Dagens pressekonference med Romas nye præsident Thomas DiBenedetto og klubbens nye træner Luis Enrique bød ikke på nogle store overraskelser og heller ingen præsentationer af nye spillere. Men derimod blev Romas nye trøjer vist frem.

Thomas DiBendetto startede mødet efter en længere introduktion fra bl.a. Romas midlertidig præsident Capelli.

"Thank you very much. It's a pleasure to be here,” sagde DiBendetto før han takkede bl.a. UniCredit og familien Sensi.

“We are starting a new era which will change the world of football.”

“The dream will take time to realize, but it is a dream they will work on to realize. It’s a long term project,”
DiBenedetto understregede flere gang at Roma er et langsigtet projekt, og fortalte derefter at det første mål er et opbygge en god stab.

"The first objective is to put in place the best managers that we can find, in all aspects of the business. Totti wants to win. We also want to win. Roma wasn't built in one day. Sabatini and co will do their best to put the best team on the field.”

DiBenedetto lægger flere gange vægt på vigtigheden af staben og folk som Sabatini og Baldini.

"With regards to mr. Baldini, he is under contract with the British national team. We hope he will come with us in October."

"I didn't come here with the goal of changing Italian football; my goal is to make Roma the best team possible"

DiBenedetto fremhævede også at man gerne vil hente unge spillere – igen langsigtet projekt. Samt at man vil fokusere mere på ungdomsafdeling i Roma, da klubben producere mange talenter og disse skal med frem på førsteholdet; "We want to develop a new culture, a team that will give their best and to make the most of the players"

DiBenedetto bekræfter endvidere at man fortsat arbejder på at bygge et nyt stadion og bekræfter samtidig at man vil mødes med CONI for at diskuterer Olimpico, og tilføjer; ”We will try to increase the revenues which will give us resources to spend on this team.”

Omkring budgettet til spillerindkøb; "The budget? That goal is to give flexibility to bring together different players"

DiBenedetto blev også spurgt indtil Daniele De Rossis fremtid; "As far as mr. De Rossi is concerned is concerned, we admire his ability and we all want him here. We want to work with him professionally."

Endnu engang fortalte DiBenedetto at Romas skal være et globalt brand og at man skal fokuserer på marketing: "One of the key areas is marketing, we have several people with experience in this and we will turn to the to develop and grow"

Omkring købet af AS Roma fortalte DiBenedetto; "There were points where I thought this deal wouldn't happen, but we had a really strong determination."

Til sidst fortalte DiBenedetto at han vil flytte til Rom, da han føler det er nødvendigt for at kunne styre en fodboldklub og for at projektet skal lykkes; "I will be moving to Rome. I feel this is essential for working with this project."

"I don't know the team very well to talk about ambitions yet. We will face every game with the desire to win,” started Enrique.

Han dog derefter afstand fra at han vil indføre Barcelona stilen I Roma; "I'm not here to export the Barcelona model. I want to bring the idea of playing attacking football."

“The formation depends on the players we have at our disposal. I will decide with the technical team when the squad is complete”

Luis Enrique snakkede meget om at han ønsker at spille offensive og attraktiv fodbold, samt at han vil gå ind til alle kampe for at vinde.

Til sidst fortalte Enrique at han ikke har nogen indflydelse på Mirko Vucinics fremtid; "I leave the decision of Vucinic to Sabatini. I want to convey a winning mentality and play good attacking football."
